Additions? Subtractions?
As always, we'd love to hear comments, but I'd like to put out a specific request for comments about the site itself. I tried to come up with something stylistically simple, yet user friendly and I hope I have achieved that. However, if you have complants, or further goals for the site then please voice them, either through the comment button below or send them onto me through millermz@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
Michael Z. Miller

Everyone's back!
Well, we had two seperate ventures this weekend, one to E-Town and one to Louisville. The one to E-Town was I'd say rather minimal as it was only me going. It was a DFA training event which, although helpful and good for networking, would have been actually more helpful for Kyle (President), Jonathan, and Dave (both state dem. leaders).
However, they were, along with many others, experiencing some good hands on politics as they helped with the special elections in Louisville. Basically, (except for maybe one incident?), a really good experience and this should help more when the regular elections come around.
Oh, and if you find these kind of events to your likings and you're not involved yet, then just click that link to the left that says 'Join Up', and I promise you that you will find yourself in the company of excitement.
(Pictures will be posted shortly of the Louisville trip)

Strange news for the day...
Well, this doesn't relate directly to any political issues, but Cheney accidentally shot someone while hunting. No joke either. The person is all right, last checked, so all in all it was just a strange accident. I say strange indeed!

Big Box Companies Are Not Punk Rock!
Stanford graduate and rapper, MC Lars, wrote in his song, Hot Topic Is Not Punk Rock, about the decline of punk music, largely saying the blame is because of 'a crass culture vulture feeds on mass consumer culture.' Well, I completely agree with his stance, only I take this one step further, and see that it's not just Hot Topic, but also box stores.
For instance, Wal-Mart, although not nessecarily denigrating music culture (depending on your position on censorship), is clearly influencing local businesses and not particularly in a positive manner. Yes, cheaper prices and plenty of items to choose from are the greatest arguments in support of Wal-Mart; however, let me lead you to a realization. Short term gains do not outweigh long term profits.
The Bush tax cuts for instance, are based largely on the idea of pleasing individuals quickly with a couple hundred bucks (depending on who you are), here and there. However, do we wonder if the US's long term security will be improved by this new-age extension of Reaganomics? No we do not. We worry, and rightfully so.
Thus, we should look at Wal-Mart in a similar fashion, because their ruthless tactics are not good business practice in the long term. In fact, Wal-Mart looks quite the opposite of 'safe policy', as much as the company seems to be a monoply recklessly spreading themselves to a once friendly neighborhood near you.
Some say that Wal-Mart will just get replaced by another company through competition, but what these people must realize is that companies the size of Wal-Mart don't gracefully fall, they crash. So IF, Wal-Mart were to dissapear it would only be due to external pressure, most likely surrounding internal scandals. Because Wal-Marts won't dissapear; South Park had that right.

Summary Of Our First Meeting
Well, thanks all of you for coming to our first meeting. Although we were in different rooms, we found that we could still have a fun and productive time, in clearly nicer seats.
On the business side of things though, we discussed the upcoming trip to Louisville this weekend. In addition, we welcomed in the new website (what you're looking at of course), and likewise initiated a new Member of the Month award, created by Ashley our PR Director. I do have to say that, your webmaster truly, was the first to receive this honorary award. For further motivation for excellence, I shall place these on the website for posterity's sake.
Oh, in addition we have more events coming up, as we almost always do, but more importantly our meeting times have switched to a bi-weekly format. Our next meeting is on Februrary 21st, a Tuesday on DUC 3rd floor.
Well, that's it for now but remember to keep checking in!
