Upcoming Meeting... and some other stuff.

Hello College Dems, it may seem like it's been awhile, and perhaps it has, but I think it's time to break the lull.

First of all, don't forget that our next meeting is this coming Monday, October 3rd@ 8:30, DUC room 308. That's right, be there because it's also our elections; so definitely come out and participate in the democratic process that is voting.

Also, I know some of the sub-committees are having meetings this week, and although I do not when please make sure to try and go to those you signed up for. Action is important, and also quite appreciated.

Well that's it for now, so until then stay sane.

Whew, the places we have been.

Well, this week has been a particularly busy week, being constitution week and all. No I will not recap, but what I will say is that we've been busy, seen a lot, learned a lot, and even played Jeopardy? Well, I do need to pause on this note because our very own Tim Morris (Membership Director) and Seth Thrasher, with the excellent partnership of two qualified members of the Outlet Alliance, they won! Consitution we own you! (Well actually...)

Ok, so that was the exciting news, but that's not all. For example, for those who follow our facebook group you may have noticed we have reached 400 members. As of 1:16 9/16 we are a mere 157 members away from tying the College Republicans group. I say mere because we grew by 100 people just in the last week!

Lastly, we have at least one more Constitution Week event tommorrow from 11 to 12:30 or so on South Lawn where we will meet and greet high school seniors, as ambassadors if you will, or just like the title. Oh, and there's candy too, so stop on by.

Well that's about it for now, but we'll keep updating the calendar, and also look for a new join link for those interested (but have just not signed up yet.)

Great presence!

Terrific first meeting everyone, and as you may have read in Kyle's e-mail we had to get a lot done this meeting so do not fret that it will all be so tedious. I mean we are Democrats, i.e., the fun ones.

Anyways, I will put all of the events mentioned up on our calendar, so if you forget anything then you can check there, or e-mail Tim who will keep you informed with pretty much anything related to College Democrats.

Once again thanks for the great turnout, and remember October 3 @ 8:30 we shall meet again, and this time with less talk and more fun.

College Democrat First Meeting

Tonight is the College Democrats first meeting, and it will take place in DUC room 308 at 8:30 tonight.

In addition, this week is Constitution Week and events will be going on in Campus every day. Some of us went to a Ten Commandments debate today, and enjoyed it (thanks Andy), but more events are scheduled, such as one about "Eminent Domain." This one will take place tonight at Grise Hall auditorium at 7:30 tonight.

So come out to what you can, but especially try to make it to our first meeting! (8:30 PM - DUC 308)

If you cannot come out tonight then you can still sign-up as a member of the College Democrats of Western Kentucky by going to the site here and filling out the form provided. This will add you to our online mailing list and keep you in the know.

This Past Young Democrats Meeting

Well, this past Warren County Young Democrats meeting was quite enjoyable, and a good time was had by all, whether in the form of discussion or pizza. So just to remind you who were absent that all WKU College Democrats are automatically a part of the local Young Democrats.

So please join us for the next meeting if you can!

(The time and location of which is still TBA, but will be announced here and through the Facebook group).

Welcome to the new school year. With each year comes new challenges, responsibilities, and excitement; and we at College Democrats would like to try to complement all that with us.

We have the first meeting coming up in early September, but at the moment we have a more pressing issue at hand.

As all of you are aware, hurricane Katrina has wrecked the coastal states leaving many helpless and distraught. Together, we and the College Republicans would like to try to help the victims with our own relief effort to help lessen the grievousness of Katrina and her aftermaths. We will have a booth at DUC this coming Tuesday, a day after labor day, to help collect funds for those persons in need of assistance. The booth will need to be manned from 10:45 to 12:15, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could come help us in this effort.

So try to come if you can, and pass word along to your friends too so that we, Democrats and Republicans alike, can help New Orleans and the other coastal areas get back on their feet!
